The Christmas List: A Novel

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Now I'm hooked!
The Christmas List was the first book written by Evans that I had read. I LOVED IT! Now I'm hooked. I have since read all of Evans books and cant wait for his next one to come out. Love the book, love the author.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A wonderful read
What if you got to see your obituary and the comments of what people think of your life?

This is the premise of the Christmas List. James Kier, a cut-throat real estate developer, gets to see his Obit and what people think of him.

Jim decides to rectify his injustices to the top five people he has wronged and finds out that it is not as easy as just refunding their money.

In the process, he comes to realize that the business malfeasance spilled over into his personal life with his cancer stricken soon to be ex-wife and estranged son.

The story is one of redemption that should be read multiple times a year not just Christmas.

The book is an easy read and is a book for all seasons.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A Second Chance From Life
I chose "The Christmas List" by Richard Paul Evans as my one Christmas book to purchase for 2009. When I got to page 108, I knew I had made the right choice because on that page is mentioned my very favorite book "Man's Search For Meaning" by Viktor Frankl. One of the most profound truths that I've learned comes from Frankl's book. It is "There is always only one right answer to the problem posed by the situation at hand." In my own second chance at life, I have come to accept that life and love bring pain as well as joy and that, one does not come without the other. As William Blake so wisely wrote "Man was made for joy and woe." I wrote much of what appears in this review directly in a recent letter to the author Richard Paul Evans and thanked him as well for pouring his heart and soul into his books. I've read nearly every one of them.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Christmas List
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and loved the way the character actually found his true self. It was both touching and warm to read and a different kind of story for Richard Paul Evans.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - One of the best takes on Scrooge that I've seen!
Bought book for my wife; this is what she has to say. "This was a great book. The characters were drawn with great skill and understanding. Interest was sustained, with unexpected twists along the way. Realistic and true to life in its rendition of character."
