Editorial Review:

Product Description:
"My name is Alan Christoffersen. You don’t know me. ‘Just another book in the library,’ my father would say. ‘Unopened and unread.’ You have no idea how far I’ve come or what I’ve lost. More important, you have no idea what I’ve found." —Prologue

What would you do if you lost everything—your job, your home, and the love of your life—all at the same time? When it happens to Seattle ad executive Alan Christoffersen, he’s tempted by his darkest thoughts. A bottle of pills in his hand and nothing left to live for, he plans to end his misery. Instead, he decides to take a walk. But not any ordinary walk. Taking with him only the barest of essentials, Al leaves behind all that he’s known and heads for the farthest point on his map: Key West, Florida. The people he encounters along the way, and the lessons they share with him, will save his life—and inspire yours.

Richard Paul Evans’s extraordinary New York Times bestsellers have made him one of the world’s most beloved storytellers. A life-changing journey, both physical and spiritual, The Walk is the first of an unforgettable series of books about one man’s search for hope.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Walk
I would highly suggest this book to anyone looking for a great story of healing from a tragedy.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Don't waste your time
The best thing I can say about this book is that it's a quick read. Otherwise, it's largely unremarkable, except for its flaws. The book begins with a flash-forward that we never return to (I guessed I missed the note that this is "the first in an unforgettable series of books" [interesting that the series is described as "unforgettable" when the sequels aren't even published yet:]).

We are led to believe that the protagonist, Alan Christoffersen, walks from Seattle to Key West after ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Gives you a lot to think about
This book is the first in a series by Evans. It explores what happens to a man when he literally loses everything that is precious to him. It gives you a lot to think about.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very Enjoyable Story
As a long-time fan of Richard Paul Evans, author of "The Christmas Box" and several other best-selling books, I was so excited to pick up his latest offering, "The Walk." Alan Christofferson had it all - a beautiful wife who loved him, a hugely successful business, and all the things that money could by. Truly, he led a charmed life. Yet, in the matter of six short weeks, he loses it all. He wants to end it all, but his wife had made him promise he would continue to live. Heartbroken and homeless, ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - 48 year old author fails at creating an authentic 34 yr old voice and forgets to write 2nd 1/2 of story
This is a book which promotes itself as a much deeper read than it is about a 34 year old guy that looses everything & decides to walk it off across America. The 1st problem is the guy is suppose to be 34 in 2010, but makes references to things like he is 50 (barbara streisand, yoko ono, ect); I'm 32 and was not convinced that this had the "voice" of a 34 year old. Not surprising, the author is 48. The next problem is the book ends at what feels like 1/2 the story. Did the author run out of steam? ... Read More
