ok when I first got this out of the box i was a little disappointed by the seemingly flimsy stryofoam body,but after taking a licking during my learning curve of crashes and one chow(dog) attack I have come to appreciate how durable styrofoam is - the toy itself takes a good bit of finesse-ie small movements to get it under control but once you grasp this its alot of fun , i wouldnt suggest for kids under 12 though just cause of the patience it takes to learn to fly it perhaps even buy 2 and sacrifice one for the learning curve. be wary though prices VARY greatly in my opinion not worth more than 25 [...] tops -but tons of fun-T

this is a very good helicopter.at first it was a little hard to controll but got it flying well after I atached the alunanim stickers. i got more fowrard movement and better turning. this is a very good constructed heli and i am well pleased of it (long battery life too!!!!!!!!)

I love this thing! It got here on time, was a good price. It's so much fun now we chase the cats with it all the time.

Saw this on display and thought of getting it for my nephew. But, you know, I figured I might as well get one for myself to see if it really did what it was supposed to. I read some reviews here, and then gave it a 'whirl'. Within a matter of minutes, I had to replace the rotor because the chopper was spinning wildly out of control; no amount of trim would work. I even tried twisting the rotor which just made it worse. But, replacing the rotor was easy, and I was back to flying.
First of all, do not have any expectations of achieving sustainable, controllable flight during your first few 'sessions' (a session is from full charge until the battery runs out). However, with some practice, this little toy is fairly controllable... and loads of fun. No, it doesn't have much forward movement unless you add weight, but that is actually a good thing at first. Don't worry about trying to land it on top of a 'helipad' or whatever at first, or even being in control of where it goes... just concentrate on getting controllable VERTICAL flight... without constantly hitting the ceiling and/or the floor. See if you can get it to stay in a 'zone' of maybe 3-5 feet between the floor and ceiling.
Then, start working on your turns. Mine has a tendency to favor the right-hand turn, even when trimmed it will usually make gradual right-hand turns. This is fine, because then you can practice flying in gentle circles. Once you have that down, then try shifting it the other direction, flying it at the wall and then turning away from the wall... etc. Soon, you can have it practically hovering and flying toward you, then away from you, then back toward you again. It's also fun to take off and land. Landings are often crashes, but a clean landing is possible.
This little guy is tough. You WILL crash it many times into chairs, walls, furniture, etc. and it just keeps on flying as if nothing happened. I'm truly impressed by the stability and durability of this toy, considering it is so cheap and lightweight. I don't expect it to last indefinitely, of course, but as you get better with it, the abuse should be less frequent. Still, though, crashing into things seems inevitable.
After I felt I could control it somewhat reasonably, I added a thumbtack (per a review here) to the front part of the chopper, I tried different spots on the 'windshield' until I felt the forward movement was just enough to be consistent, but not too much to make it difficult to control. This spot, for me, was on top of the chopper, on the forward section of the body, appx. halfway between the rotor and the nose. It now has a slow, steady forward motion that makes it a blast to fly around the room.
Also, I recommend launching it from your hand by holding the underside of the chopper with your fingers, then spinning up the rotor while holding the chopper (holding the controller in your other hand obviously), then letting go with a gentle forward motion of your hand. This seems to be the best way to get it airborne, although it is fun launching from counter tops and whatnot once you get your skills honed a bit.
The strobe light is also really cool. When the battery runs out, the chopper will begin losing lift power... you can then land it normally (or attempt to) before the battery dies completely.
For the price, this is an impressive little machine.
Please read the instructions, have patience, and use the trim... it really works!

This is a fun toy if it works. I bought one for my son and it broke within 2 minutes. I got a new one and that broke within 5 minutes. The sturdiness is ultra disappointing and this toy is guaranteed to break within a few days of play and leave your child ultra disappointed. don't bother.
