Air Hogs Havoc Heli - Colors May Vary

I had this toy up and running within minutes of opening the package. At first the polystyrene construction of the body looks a bit cheesy but you will realize that is part of the clever and economical engineeering that has gone into this product. It allows it to absorb multiple shocks and be light in weight. The combination remote control and charger is a decent design but the charging cord can require a bit of fiddling during insertion to make the right connection. While it is built to a cost throughout, thank goodness because it allows more of us to enjoy the thrill of mini powered remote control flight at a lower entry price.
The first time you see this little heli hover in place, you will feel a rush. My son played with it all Christmas day and loves it so much he wants to buy others. You should purchase this, knowing that it may die an untimely death. Learning to fly it and sharing between siblings will cause many a high speed crash. I have had to do surgery on one of the weights from a rotor tip and I have also had to re-glue the skids - both procedures accomplished with normal household tools and glues. With that said, I am amazed that ours has held up as well as it has. If you are buying it for a children under 11 though, you should be prepared to supervise and or help to avoid damage to the heli.
I recommend it at any price under $25. It provides more wholesome thrills than the average video game and may inspire a child in a new direction.

This heli so far, has been very durable. There will be many crashes when learning to fly, but nothing broke. I would say it would be a great toy for early teen and up, but may be hard for smaller children to get used to. for those used to flying larger rc's, might recommend taking the spring out of the elevation stick, making it easier feather up and down. This is a very good indoor heli to play with, would recommend it to everyone.

OK, it's Christmas Eve 2008 and I bought my two boys (aged 22 and 23, one of whom has a degree in aerospace engineering) each one of these toys. After present were opened, these toys were the first thing they looked at closer and couldn't wait to play with (like they were 5 again). Unfortunately, both units were DOA. When we plugged the charger cord into the side and expected the green charging light to go on, nothing happened and the toys never charged. We swapped copters and chargers back and forth all without success. NOT a very good investment of about $100 and a super letdown for my "boys". We never even got to see the rotors spin much less fly them.
The plug assembly is so flimsy, you're hesitant to push to hard for fear of snapping the entire thing in half. This should cost about $5-$10 for how it is made.
The support site for Spinmaster, although flashy (Flash-based), is completely WORTHLESS!. There are no FAQs for problems with this model, there are no instructions whatsoever, and the only thing there is is an advertisement movie. Worthless.

When this arrived, we found it cheaply made for the cost. Initially, based on the way it was advertised, we thought there were 3 helicopters in a package. I have seen better quality remote helicopters, the same size, less expensive at other on-line and in-store retailers. Unfortunately, this is for a gift for Christmas, so now will have to go and get something else. A huge disappoint and not a good value.
