This toy is pretty awesome, i think its a great add to a collection which is why i buy them. If this is for a younger child they can be complicated and some pieces could break if not careful, but most parts have been made to give under pressure. I feel this toy is a great buy.

This is the eighth movie Transformer figure I bought, and the first to prompt me to write a review. I wish I could say it was because it was so great, but in reality it's because it's so BAD.
In vehicle mode, this seems sturdy enough. Even the helicopter blades seem firm. I do have two gripes though. First, the cage under the tail that holds Scorponok...it constantly comes lose and falls down, even without pressing the release button. Second, the button that makes the rotors spin does not at all work smoothly...it catches and jerks and feels like it's going to break.
It doesn't get any better in robot mode. Transformation is easy enough, and the robot mode LOOKS cool. However, the side panels of the helicopter that form the "shoulders" and hold the arms are very loose and don't lock into place. The result is that these panels, and the arms, flop around, refuse to stay in place, and are generally annoying. There are two little tabs that are supposed to hold it, but the tolerances are so off that the tabs go in the slots and then fall right out.
It's not all bad, for example the legs are very solid, articulated, and well made. But overall this thing is sure to frustrate with its flimsiness. The recommended age is 5-12 but you can probably count on one hand the number of seconds it will last in the hands of a kid that age.
Given that Hasbro has been designing and manufacturing Transformers for many years, I expect more than this.

While I missed the whole Transformers-mania back in the '80s, I am now (re)living it through my 8-year old son. He's built up quite of collection of CYBERTRON and ENERGON figures, but this was our first TF Movie figure and it is AWESOME! While the first transformation to robot-mode was tricky, the end result was well worth the effort. Mine is on display with the Deluxe Scorponok (I'd love to see a Blackout on the Deluxe scale, pretty please -- Hasbro?) and his is already well played with -- the blades can even be removed to be used as swords by Blackout! Highly recommended! Can't wait to see Blackout in action on 7.4.7!

I've been a fan of the Transformers since their U.S. debut back in 1984, and what has impressed me the most about this Movie Line is the fact the Transformers are going back to their roots.
Robots In Disguise.
Transformers alt modes are now that of real, authentic looking vehicles, something that has not been seen since the early 80's.
Blackout was the first of this line I purchased, and I couldn't be happier.
He's a little difficult to transform at first, but gets easier. For the record, the above pic is wrong, his copter blades fold neatly against his back.
I can't wait for the movie to come out, it's been 23 years, welcome back.
