Transformers Movie Voyager Blackout with Scorponok

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Detailed, but flawed
Blackout was the third Transformer I purchased from the new toyline. Transformation is relatively easy, but the toy's construction leaves much to be desired. Compared to the other voyager class figures in the line, I would have to say that Blackout is the most fragile and lightweight.

Blackout has one automorph feature - in his head. As the legs of the figure are extended downward, the head would flip outward and up through the torso. There is one problem with this feature: When reconverting back into helicopter mode, the legs would accidentally trigger the automorph, when trying to snap the legs back into position. In helocoptor more, I had to place a rubber band around the legs, and cockpit, just to prevent the automorph from automatically activating.

Upon careful inspection of the figure, I noticed that one the pegs (left side), located on the side of the helicoptor was shorter than the other (right side). This was obviously THE mechanical defect, which caused the toy's automorph to automatically activate in copter mode.

I understand that my explanation was quite lengthy, and detailed. Hopefully you followed it.

I believe that my toy was simply defective. Blackout is still, one of my favorite figures from the toyline, regardless. I plan on getting another Blackout. Hopefully, I don't meet up with the same problem again.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Quality and Build All Transformer Toys Should Have
I'm 20 years old and even though I never liked TF before, I haven't had this much fun with a toy in years. I bought Blackout after doing quite a bit of research on these new TF toys.

Form Factor/Style/Size:
Blackout looks like the transformers should, robust, detailed, and full, unlike the stick figures of most transformer toys that I've seen. In robot mode, Blackout almost looks like a Japanese samurai (that's a good thing). I also like that Blackout's alt mode (MH 53 PAve Low Military Helicopter) looks so realistic. Just look at a picture of that helicopter and compare it to a picture of the toy, you'll see what I mean. While many complain that he is "small" for a Voyager Class, he makes up with great detail for an 8" tall plastic toy.

Fun Factor/ Playability:
I've had this toy for about 3 days and I'm having more fun with it every day. For example, recently I found a piece on his feet that folded out. I never even knew that piece did something until now! I also spend a lot of time changing his poses. The most fun part of playing with Blackout is trying new poses to make him look cool.

Quality:
Usually the quality of a line of toys declines after several years, but I'm rather impressed by the movie line TF toys. I transform Blackout back and forth about 5 times each day and still no loose parts so far. Paint job is good. Again, detail and accuracy is excellent.

Conclusion:
Overall, Blackout deserves much more credit than he's being given just because he's "small." He is the best TF toy on the market. He'll give you the most bang for your buck. I know it sounds weird for a kid home from college for the summer to say that TF toys have entertained me for hours over the past few days. I can guarantee you'll enjoy Blackout as much as I am enjoying him.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Diss-A-Pointed
I bought other TF movie figures and then I saw the picture of this and I thought.. hmm Blackout was really friggin cool in the movie, why not get his action figure. I assumed he'd be pretty large and tower my Optimus Prime figure, buuut he looks like a friggin midget. Seriously. Why make the largest transformer the smallest voyager figure? Riddle me that. I also don't like his huge tail hanging in the back and the fact that without it the figure would topple back. The Starscream figure is waay better than this thing.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - an Awsome movie TF figure!!!
WOW! this is a cool toy! his robot mode is very awesome looking as well as his helicopter mode! I like this figure even more now that I`ve seen the moive (it was awesome!!!) hes not too durable so dont be to rough with him! but if you are nice with him and love transformers you MUST have blackout!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Size matters (to me)
Maybe I am thick, but I presumed, incorrectly, that this toy would have some mass to it. After all, this is the "largest of the decepticons". Well, color me *decepted*, because this little number is all of 12"x4"x4".

I collect all the transformers. Get Optimus prime. Size matters. To me.

By the way, mine stay in the box, so please interpret the aformentioned ratings of mine for toy- fun, educational value, and durability with a grain of salt. Hmmm, next to a grain of salt, this toy might seem really large!
