LEGO SpongeBob Adventures at Bikini Bottom

Nine year old loves these legos. Eight year old loves these legos. Parents can show how to put together one item, for instance, the cage that holds the jellyfish and then the child can put together something else under supervision...then guess what? My two grandsons could put the other items together by themselves with little help. It takes some time, parents...but it is worth the child's expression when she or he can figure out how to put the stuff together. Has everything the child has seen on tv. Even shoots basketballs. Great...

The big Spongebob fan in our house is 6-years old and he loves this set. Of course, it was too difficult for him to assemble, however, his 10-year old brother enjoyed working on it, though the subject matter was of no interest to him. While the Legos themselves are practically indestructable the finished products are typically fragile. A Spongebob fan who can take care of his or her playthings will enjoy this set. A child who is hard on his or her toys would be better off with a general set of Legos that can be broken down and reassembled with minimal fuss.

My 11 year old loves to build things, and she loves Sponge Bob. She asked for all the Lego Spongebob kits for Christmas, and Santa delivered! She built all 3 of the sets within an hour. It was fun, but didn't last long. Sure she could rebuild the same thing over and over, but there's no excitement in that.
I'd say this set is geared more to the 5 year old crowd just coming out of Duplo, maybe even younger if your child is dextrous enough to manage the tiny pieces.

My daughter got this set for her birthday (which is in a few days) from her Uncle. I let her open it early so we can stretch out her birthday into a week full of celebrations!
She loves this set. She was able to do most of this on her own BUT there were several parts that she needed help with. The instruction book that came with it is excellent and really helped her "see" what she needed to do next. We completed all the little houses and are halfway through Spongbob's house. Had to stop for bedtime, I am such a mean Mom I know!
She can't wait to get the Krusty Krab set as well. This was our first venture into the "little" Legos and it went much smoother than I anticipated when I opened the box and saw all the tiny parts! We are storing the extra pieces in zip lock bags until we need them, so keep them from getting lost.

This was a great hit with my son. He enjoyed both assembling the kit and using it as a play set. The pieces are on the small side so it would definitely need parental help for a kid on the younger side of the suggested age range.
