LEGO SpongeBob The Krusty Krab

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great fun :-)
My 8 year old son got this for his birthday. Legos are always great but spongebob makes them even better. It also has moving parts which is cool. Took us about 1 1/2 hour to put it together (with picture and step by step instructions) and we had a great time together! All the pieces were there!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - LEGO KRUSTY KRAB review
Whenever I buy a set from LEGO, I check to see how many things I will have to change to make it better. For example, this set is HALF OF THE KRUSTY KRAB. If you are a fan of the Spongebob Squarepants T.V. show, and are a very observant person, you will realize that this product is far from great quality. There are problems with this set, which are of two kinds.

#1. Little problems

#2. BIG problems

First, I will address the first set, Little problems. The Little problems category is filled with minor problems, which are easy to fix. Below is the list of Little problems:

1. The chimney thingy on top,(I don't know what it's called, since there is no fireplace in the Krusty Krab, and it is not above the stove area,) is placed WAAAYYYYY to far to the right. Why did LEGO do that? Maybe they were having a seizure and couldn't see straight, so they misplaced it. Solution to the problem? Move it to the left, almost on the middle of the roof.

2. In this set, there is a little seaweed plant on the side of the KRUSTY KRAB. Should it be there? NOOOOOOOoooo... I put it right by my Chum Bucket set that I had built. The seaweed's a nice thing to have, but it's in the wrong set.

3. The KRUSTY KRAB sign is waaaaayyyy to low. And, the tan pole keeping it up is not the best that LEGO could have done. The best thing to do, would be to take a bunch of tan, cylinder pieces, stack them up on each other, and have that be the pole, keeping the sign up.

4. None of the KRUSTY KRAB workers have there hats on, as you have probably noticed. If you are a fan of the show, you probably know that whenever you see Spongebob or Sqidward working at The KRUSTY KRAB, they have white hats on, with a black bill. I just took a white cylinder piece, stuck it onto a flat, back, 1x2 piece, and I had a hat. It's a very dorky looking hat, so I took it apart and don't use it. I only mentioned it because it works.

5. Mr. Krab's and Squidward's hands are grey, when they should be red and green. It's like LEGO didn't have the guts, to give the characters the right colored hands. (Either that, or they were color blind. Something along these lines.) I got a Spider-man set a few years ago, and lost a lot of the set, including Spider-man's torso, and legs. But I still had the red hands. Now, the way I look at my LEGOs are, Star Wars comes first, superheroes come second, and then the rest are just MISC LEGOs. Meaning, I don't break my X-wing Fighter to build a castle, yet I can break a castle to make an X-wing Fighter. But since I'm missing most of Spider-man's body, I just put his red hands onto Mr. Krab's arms, and put the grey hands back into the box. And Mr. Krabs looked a lot better. What did I do about Squidward's hands? Well, I was hoping that since I had gotten two "pig guards", from Jabba's Sail barge, and Jabba's prize, I could, just maybe, sacrifice two of their hands. But what color hands do they have? Brown. In Return of the Jedi, they have green. So, I guess the LEGO people are afriad of making great quality hands. I'm surprised they didn't give Spider-man purple hands. So, all that to say, Squidward still has grey hands.

6. The trash can should not be there, but it's a NICE piece to have. I added a top to it, by the way.

7. The flags on the top are a mess. Number one, this set only comes with four flags. How many should there be? Five. Also, they should be strung across the building, not stuck on by studs. So, what you can do is, get a piece like the railings of the Jabba's Sail barge. It looks kind of like a telephone wire. The way to get a piece like that without buying a whole set, is to get LEGO Digital Designer, and only buy that one piece. Or, go to LEGO's website, and I'm pretty sure that there's a section where you can buy individual pieces. It's like a long black, hollow pipe. Try to get the right length, one that's not to long or to short. Just, clip the flags onto the pipe, get two holding pieces, stick them to the front of The KRUSTY KRAB, one on each side, towards the top, and snap the pipe into the holding pieces. If my description wasn't graphic enough, you can just look at pictures of the flags on front of The KRUSTY KRAB in Google Images.

8. The ENTER sign is to close to The KRUSTY KRAB. It's okay, but I'm going to try to build a lot more of the under water landscape, so I will have more room to put the sign further away from the building, like in the T.V. show.

That just about wraps it up for the little problems. I'm sure that there's probably more, but I've already written a long review.

BIG problems:

1. This set only comes with half of The KRUSTY KRAB, the inside is not at all like the one on the T.V. show, so I think that all you can do is pretty much completey redesign the inside. A problem with that though, is that in the T.V. show, the inside of The KRUSTY KRAB is larger than the outside. I suggest buying a bigger platform piece, and building more of the inside. Also, like I mentioned before, this set only comes with half of the building. To build the whole thing, you'd probably have to buy two KRUSTY KRAB sets, and put them together as one building. It's a pain, it's a bummer, and it's annoying, but this is what LEGO has turned into. I still have faith in LEGO, but I would really like to know what the deal is.

That's pretty much all of the BIG problems, but even though it's only one, it's still a huge problem. I'm not saying don't buy the set, what I'm saying is, if you want it to be up to, um, how should I put this, "replica standards", be prepared to do some major LEGO "plastic" surgery. I don't think it will ever be a five star, unless you pretty much redesign the whole thing, but it's pretty close to a four star.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Good item but lot of pieces!
This is lot of pieces but it is good Yap.Its hard to build the KRUSTY KRAB Restaurant but I made it WHOO Its hard but it was fun.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - LEGO SPONGEBOB THE KRUSTY KRAB
THIS IS A NICE TOY FOR A KID, THE ONLY PROBLEM IS IT HAS A LOT OF PIECES AND SOME OF THEM WERE MISSING WHEN WE OPENED IT. THEY NEED TO COUNT THE PIECES BEFORE THEY PACKAGE IT.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - GREAT!!!!
My son was so thrilled to get this for Christmas. The little Lego pieces are made to look just like the Spongebob characters. There's even a little Gary! There's tiny Lego money to buy the crabby patties. It's great fun!
