WowWee Roboreptile Robotic Reptile

My smarty-pants six-year-old nephew loved this gift. He droppped all his Star Wars toys and couldn't be happier. The only problem was that every adult and child at the party had to beg for their turn to play wit it, including me. Girls seemed to be enamored with it as much as the boys! As for the durability...You can't really drop it or treat it roughly, after all it is plastic.

This is not a casual toy. The key to full enjoyment of this bugger is the right match to the kid. The perfect owner will have :
Patience
Persistence
respect for their things
Curiousity!!!
Otherwise it does a great disservice to the toy and the kid. Don't give it to the immature ot the disinterested. This is a pretty serious device, cloaked as a toy. I hate to see it mass marketed, because a lot of kids won't understand it. It's pretty sturdy for what it is. It really is amazing, but I hesitate to call it a toy. Can your kid persevere if something doesn't work as they expect immediately?
Yes, my 6 &13 yr old played with it for 20 minutes and, frustrated, demanded to send it back. The next day, after seriuosly delving into the manual and the remote, they were revelling in all the cool stuff it could do. The older son is a "menu hound" who delves into any device menu. He's also slightly ADD, so he needs a target goal. 2 weeks later it sits unused, but it proudly gets shown to visitors.
I like the idea of hacking it, and as my kids mature, we will disassemble it.
I can see why the retail price is so high, but the post-holiday prices are about right.

Roboreptile gets very boring very quickly. Doesn't really move around well on carpet so it would be better if you had a large expanse of wood or tile floor. I know it would be more enjoyable if we were an expert at the remote controls, but frankly we get bored with it too quickly when we are messing around with it. Not worth the cost. However, I do think it's pretty cute when it's being fed...

I bought this for my son as he soooo wanted a robot and so I thought why not. He enjoyed it for the first few hours but it sits on his bookcase now and has not played with it for more then a total of 5 hours. Great for its WOW factory but just doesnt seem to interest him enough since, but hey he is only 5 so maybe it was a reach being this is for 8 year olds.

I bought this for my grandson ( age 8 ). I think that his parents like it more than he does.
