Be careful that you are buying the new version of this system, which this model is probably not. The new updated xbox has an HDMI port, less problems and is only 7 lbs and smaller in size. It will cost more than this model. Amazon is also selling the new version. Pay attention to description and you'll get the right one.
See review on cnet for details.

I'm 18 and I've been playing video games since I was as little as I can remember. From the first time I played Super Mario on the NES, and thought it was the best game ever (of course for the first few hours I thought the goal was to fall in the holes, not jump over them). After that I went to the Super NES. Donkey Country was my poison on that system. (The first game I actually mastered). Then for me it was the N64... But I'll skip ahead.
I had a Playstation 2, and had a great time with it. But around last Christmas I knew time was running out for my old faithful machine. So when it was time to make a decision, I knew the Playstation 3 was too pricey to ask for for christmas so I decided to jump into the Microsoft waters.
I have not been dissapointed at all. Is the machine on the loud side? The answer is yes. But it's no louder than my ceiling fan. But I have not played a game I didn't like since getting my Xbox 360 almost a year ago. Here are 5 of my favorites so far...
5.The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion
4.Saints Row (I hate rap, and "gangstA's" but this game is fun as hell)
3.Bioshock (One of the best games ever, but still not as great as the hype)
2.Gears of War (Possibly the best first person shooter I have ever played)
1.Mass Effect (This is the most amazing game I have ever played. Period.)
Microsoft makes games that I love. And even though some people may have problems with "the red ring of death" and other things like that. I have NOT. I bought a fan for my xbox 360 the week that I got it for Christmas (Better safe than sorry). I got it at gamestop for 10 bucks. And my 360 has never overheated.
Im looking forward to next year. Theres some great games coming. And while I will be getting a PS3 sooner rather than later, I will never abandoned my new comrade, the Xbox 360. I am officially a faithful follower of both game companies now. And yes, it is possible.
Thanks for your time, happy gaming and happy hollidays.

This is the worst game system out to date you must beware. There is a 33% fail rate "but i feel its alot more then that because i had to send mine back 8 times because it just died on me" and if u want games with good graphics then yea this system is good but still not the best "PS3 has the best" and if you want to watch an HD movie you can do BUT you would have to spend an extra 200 bucks for the HD-DVD drive to watch em. Wanna have wireless internet? SURE you can....time to spend 120 bucks for it because its not built in....
Wanna play TRUE HD gaming and play on 1080p.....guess what you cant even though they do have a HDMI port in the system its only ver 1.2 you need 1.3 to get TRUE 1080p.....yea i know microsoft lied to you and i did like the system at first when i got mine but after i did some research i learned that its not good at all and sending my system back 8 times was starting to get very very old
so do yourself a favor and do not buy this system and if you do buy it you will see what i mean when your systems dies and you have to send it in 6-100 times
i would tell you to get a ps3 for a less then .2% fail rate, best graphics, free online, HD movies "blu-ray", built in wireless internet, and really really good games
so think about it and before you buy this worthless system
STEP AWAY FROM THIS GAME SYSTEM..........RIPE OFF!!!!!!!

Too loud (fact)
Not enough *good* games (opinion)
More expensive than PS3 (fact if you consider a Hi-Def dvd player and wifi)
Better controller than PS3 (opinion)
If you like to watch hi def movies, the 360 noise *will* bother you. Watching Transformers? Maybe not as much. Watching Planet Earth? Definitely annoying.
Opinion: Buy the PS3 and a Toshiba A2 and you end up with BOTH formats for LESS than just the 360 w/HD & wifi. And the PS3 game selection is very good unless you need more than 20 games at a time. Personally, I play 2-3 games and they last me a few months, then add another game here or there as something cool is released. To each their own. My opinion is the PS3 is a superior platform.

Any Microsoft product is a love-hate relationship. The 360 has the best games and the most versatlity. However it seems to be plauged with bugs. Often time I'll be playing a brand new game and at the most exciting part it'll freeze and give me a "dirty or damaged disk" error message. The system, at times, can be very frustrating. However, we forgive Microsoft because their games are so great. If you're planning to go wireless, make sure you will be using it near the router; I use mine in the opposite end of the house from the router and can never get a steady enough connection. Out of the 360, the PS3, and the Wii, the 360 is a must.
