Xbox 360 Console Includes 20GB Hard Drive

I have had my 360 for a one and a half years and I have had ZERO problems. I signed up for Xbox Live which is more than worth the money. I can play games, chat and video chat with all my friends and family back home, which is 2,300 miles away. I also bought the HD DVD drive which, although the format is over, will serve as a great up-conversion DVD player. I don't get all these people complaining about the heating or rings of death. The only people I know who've had breakdowns were people with mod-ed xboxes or people who leave them on for three days straight with no ventilation.
And for those complaining about the price or the lack of supply. I waited MONTHS for a Wii. AND I had to buy a $20 Nunchuk thing, and another 40 for a second controller. That stuff added up fast, so it's quite the norm for consoles.
The problem is all these idiots buy it for themselves or their idiot kids, hook it up wrong and wonder why it isn't revolutionizing their household or recording their favorite shows.
Overall it's an excellent multimedia center and great gaming system.

I enjoy the system for what it is. The online is great! You can download demos, trailers, new add-on (maps, cars, characters, ect..) adding to replay value. The Xbox Live community is great once you get around annoying kids screaming into the mic and equally annoying adults that fit into this category as well. So it's pretty much like any internet source you access.
The current games are striving to be new and original for the most part. The demo feature is nice. Keep in mind that is not the end result when the game is released so things may change. There are 2 games I downloaded from Xbox Live that were both free. Nothing to brag about and I have not purchased any games or movies so I can not give a review about that. To this day the original compatibility list is really not impressive when you think about the time they had to address the game issues.
The only problem game I have is Call of Duty 4. This is an online issue. Some days it's easy to join a planned or random session, while others are seemingly impossible. A tech said Activision is to blame entirely. So this has still not been resolved.
Update: There is a fix that does help most online issues with joining rooms if a router is at fault. It is a process called opening the NAT settings. When you preform a network test see if the NAT registers as Open. If not, look online for a solution. Luckily Youtube had a video explaining step by step how to open a my Verizon router
The tech source is HORRIBLE! My old account was locked out by Microsoft for no reason. The techs wanted to spend hours going over my modem, router, cat5 cables, etc... Finally I called back and said I had an up to date modem, no router, new cables and stated again that I was on the day before, but could not log on. They set me up with a new account at no charge.
A year later they tried to bill my old account. I had to call and cancel for a second time. This process took as long as every other time I called in. Nothing is fast with the tech support on the phone. I can not even imagine how the e-mail support handles these simple tasks.
Overall the system provides hours of fun so long as you do not require tech support. Should you have issues be ready to confirm you info multiple times if transferred to other departments. They will usually blame your internet provider or setup when you encounter online issues. To this day I have had more unsatisfied conversations where poor excuses are made and nothing was resolved properly. Good luck getting a representative you can understand.
I purchased my unit at a local store along with a 3yr warranty. Microsoft does offer a free warranty, but you have to ship the unit out for repair and wait weeks for a return. That is a log process so I would rather take a short drive and swap my unit out for a new one.
Good luck on you purchase.
My system was shipped back to me and the red ring is gone. Currently played just about everyday. I am hooked on GTA4 (online) and Overlord. The cd/dvd drive does still act up once in a while. That was not replaced for the red ring issue. If it gets worse I can always fall back on my warranty.

My opinion of the Xbox 360 would be better had M$ not have rushed this out into the market, without thorough testing.
It's clear that they didn't test enough, because I know a guy who had to replace his 360 8 times due to the "infamous" RROD.
This will be my first and last 360 I buy, as I got the RROD, along with an E 79 error.
It's sad when you pay the amount you do for the system, only for it to go bad in less than a year of ownership. My old xbox is still running just perfect, yet the 360 is trash as compared to the old xbox.
Shame on M$ for unloading such an inferior gaming console to the masses. So Nintendo Wii or PS3 here I come.
