Leapster L-MAX Hardware (TV Feature)

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very educational, I love it along with the games!
I highly recommend this toy for those who are seeking assistance to support early education. My five year old loves the internal games, he like the doodle pad the most. However, I love the "Clifford the Big Red Dog" game the best because he is learning how to write his letters properly.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - My son loves it
I bought this at Walmart for $90, for my son, for Xmas. He's three. He loves it!! I didn't think he would get into it so much right away, but to my surprise......he loves it so much, I need to find an adapter for it or I'm going to go broke buying batteries (even rechargables). Educational and fun. You can't get any better than that, right?

The only complaint I have is that, the tiniest bump turns it off. I didn't notice that until I hooked it up to the TV for him. For some reason, he just taps it on the floor by accident (to give me a high five for getting an answer right!) and has to start his game all over. He doesn't seem to mind yet...but it's just something I wanted to take note of. Leapfrog is still the best in my book. He loves the Fridge DJ as well. Keep up the great work, LeapFrog!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - We would have been better off with the regular Leapster
I really think this is a great toy. My almost 4 year old loves it and it is very educational and fun. He likes writing his letters and singing the songs on the Letters on The Loose game. The only problem we had was playing it on the tv. The cord is very sensitive and loses the picture at the slightest movement. Playing it on the tv is very annoying because it keeps blinking off and my son has to tap the cord back in place. I bought it more for handheld use anyway, but had I known about the issue, I would have just gone with a regular Leapster and not sprung for the L-Max. The quality is also not good on the tv. It is distorted and the sound is slightly muffled. As a hand held game, it is worth 5 stars, but I only gave it 4 stars because the tv capability is worthless.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Happy Mom
I purchased the Leapster L-Max for my 5 year old daughter for Christmas. She loves it! With the cold and snow right now, this is a great learning toy to keep her mind off not being able to go outside. We wish there were more games and the LCD cover is a bit flimsy, but it is the best learning game we have found.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - So far, so good!
My 5 year old son loves this Leapster product. It is our first "video game" and I wanted to get something educational for Christmas '07. We bought the Nemo and Cars games, plus the I Spy for my 8 year old daughter. I was surprised at the quality of the video on the TV screen for such a small machine. I admit I don't have much experience in the gaming world, though. Even our 11 year old nephew was playing it off and on over Christmas break. The 4 AA batteries have lasted longer than expected, although my son doesn't play with it for long stretches of time. I think I'll wait on buying the charger unit (sold separately, of course)to see how much my son plays with it in the future, and to test the battery life. The online reviews all seemed more positive for this unit than the V-tech unit that is similar. I found good deals at Christmas but I'll be watching out for sales on the game cartridges, though. They average $23-$25 at regular price.
