Leapster L-MAX Hardware (TV Feature)

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Relatively Entertaining
My big debate when I bought this for my 4 year old was whether to get the LMax or the regular Leapster. I'm glad I bought the LMax because my son much prefers playing it on the tv. I haven't even bought any LMax games with the enhanced elements yet.

I've seen varying qualities between the games themselves - some will keep him entertained for multiple uses and some are gathering dust. This is to be expected. I'm really looking forward to some upcoming trips where I can bring this. I do question how educational some of this is for my son, but obviously kids learn different ways. My son enjoys learning reading and math and doesn't need a videogame to teach him. But at least he can busy himself with something relatively harmless that may be making him more comfortable with letters and numbers at the same time.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - It's NOT Boring After All
We got this for our 6 year old who rudely exclaimed "this is a boring toy" when he opened it. It almost made me go through the roof because I agonized over the perfect learning toy to get him and thought this was the ideal choice based on the reviews.
It now goes almost everywhere with him and he has since told us that he was sorry for what he said because it's one of the "most awesome-est toys ever". He is asking for some new cartridges for his birthday already.
It was very easy for him to learn to use and the size of the leapster, compared to our old leap pad, makes traveling with it much easier.
In my opinion, this makes a much better choice than any of the hand-held video game systems and can be just as much fun.
Also, we use an old soft-sided lunch box to carry it around in. It's the perfect size for the game and cartridges and a much cheaper alternative to the leapster case.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - My four-year old son loves the Leapster
I bought this for my son for Christmas this past year. His sister had one from the year prior. They both love them. It has fun and educational games. He can play it while lying in bed; it can be plugged into the TV so he can play on a bigger screen; and when we take long drives, we can plug it into our vehicle and he plays on the drop-down DVD screen. It's a great value and definitely worth it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Leapster L-max
I bought this for my 3 and 1/2 year old son for Christmas and he Loves it! They make a lot of games for a broad age range so I know he will be able to use it for a long time. He has only had it for a month but as far as I can tell, the battery lasts for a long time if you get the recharging dock. When he first got it we just used regular batteries and they ran out in a couple of days (it also got a lot of use in that time) but I would definitely get the recharging dock if you plan on using it a lot. I would give this product an A+.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great!
I can't pry the game away from my son. And I am so happy we splurged on the LMAX because we can play it on a TV, which is great so that my younger son can watch while the older one plays. The games are educational, which I am really happy about! This has been a great gift!
