 
Barbie "Jam with Me" Electronic Guitar

My six year old daughter received this guitar a year ago (she was five at the time). She asked for a real electric guitar, and this was an ok substitute. She obviously knew it was a toy, but up until just a few weeks ago (when it quit working) she and her brother played with it often. It has always been a hit with friends that come to visit.
The karaoke part never worked well. The headset does not fit - it is very small and awkward. Even if you hold the mic, the sound of the mic is poor. The song cartridge that comes with it only plays parts of the three song, but the sound is ok, and the kids do like to sing along with it. I think you can purchase other cartridges. They are very small so we never remove the cartridge - didnt want to lose it.
The guitar itself is the main attraction. It has 4 strings that can be strummed for individual guitar-like sounds (think toy!) or they can make different sounds, tunes, etc. by pushing the buttons in place of where frets would be if this were a real guitar.
Overall, I would recommend this toy. It is fun, and since I purchased an extended warranty for $4.99, we should be getting a new one.

Ok, I read all the reviews decided to get it for my 4 year old for her birthday...it was the hit of the party. SHE LOVED IT!!! As for the headset, all the reviews said it was really small but, my husband figured out that it actually goes around the back of your head with the microphone in the front NOT worn like a headband- if you put it like that it fits great...and my daughter says comfotrtable too!!! LOVE IT! I think the other reviews were simply wearing it incorrectly :)

My daughters fight over this thing all the time and the 3 songs get annoying real quick but they all have a great time with it! The microphone headset is pretty much useless, doesn't fit any of my kids properly (ages 2, 4 and 6). It seems like it is pretty well made and
has held up to some mild abuse so far.

I got this for my five year old for Christmas; her seven year old brother got an acoustic guitar. She wants his.
First, the headset will not stay on her tiny head. But, older kids really wouldn't be interested in this. It's more for 3-5 year olds. Second, the music that comes with it is not an interesting style for those under ten, and those over ten would never play with this. Getting different cards for it is impossible at best. Lastly, there are too many buttons that shift what is happening. Again, this is labeled well for older kids who read, but they wouldn't like this toy. Santa should have brought a second acoustic!

Perfect gift when paired with "The Barbie Diaries" DVD. My 4 year old loves her guitar, especially "I'm a survivor" that plays over and over and over again. Ughhh! The headset doesn't fit on her little ears, and she has to basically eat the microphone to hear herself sing. She loves everything about it. Great gift to send to the Grandparents house for a visit. They will love you for it!..Not.
