 
Classic Parcheesi Board Game

My daughter loves this game. She is eight years old and asks to play it all the time. This is a game the whole family can enjoy playing together. I grew up playing parcheesi, but it was not as nice as this one. In this game each person playing gets a different animal so younger children get into the game. I highly recommend it.

I must admit that unlike many other reviewers, I am unfamiliar with the original version of the game. I love the new design, and that was what prompted me to purchase the game. I do enjoy it very much, but I was disappointed when I found that what was inside was not what appeared on the box. The dice were not wooden (as advertised on the box) and the beautiful carved pieces shown close up are obviously a different material from the plastic ones inside. Not a tremendous upset, but it does give it more of the feel of a cheap kids' game.

Over the past six months or so, my wife and I have gotten back into card and board games as a way to escape the monotony of evening television and Web surfing. I was delighted to find an old favorite, Parcheesi, available on Amazon. While I thought about buying the "original" version I grew up with as a child, I realized that my wife would not experience such nostalgia, since she never played the game before. The updated version seemed like it would be OK, and the new colorful board graphics and animal game pieces appeared more up-to-date. Even as a kid, I wasn't particularly fond of the chess-style pawns that came with the old Parcheesi.
I think we made a good choice in buying this updated game. For $10.99, it has certainly surpassed my expectations. True, the board folds up in quarters, not in halves like the old game did, but many new games fold up this way now. Some people have complained about the plastic animal pawns, but I don't have a problem with them. This is a game, not an heirloom or a priceless artifact. These factors have in no way detracted from the game play and enjoyment we get from playing Parcheesi. The game is a lot of fun and we both love it. My wife particularly likes it when her pawn lands on a space I am occupying and she can send me back to Start!
The only thing that did strike me as a being a bit odd, though, were the dice. The box advertises "wooden" dice, but mine came with normal white plastic-style dice, similar to the dice you find in a Monopoly set. While the wooden dice may have given the game an old-time "authentic" look and feel, I have read complaints from other users that the wooden dice are too light and don't have much heft to them. So I'm glad our set came with regular dice. All in all this is a great game and has provided us with hours of fun and enjoyment.

I have looked for this game for a couple of years as we used to play it when we were kids.
it is just as much fun as i remembered!!! the quality was excelent and it came right on time. thanks and keep up the good work.

This to me has been the most exciting game I have played since I was a child. It's a great learning game, shows kids how to count and interact with the family.
