my daughter was so happy to receive her own copy of the game, Scattergories. she is always playing with her friends at their homes, but now she can play at our home too. we have so much fun trying to get answers to the questions and beat the clock.
a good game for short or long time periods.

This is definatly my favorite board game. Its a whitty hilarous game that is sure to bring a good laugh or two to an awkward family gathering.

My family and I love to play this game together. Scattergories challenges your creativity, because if two players come up with matching answers, neither player scores a point for that answer. The game has interesting categories on each card, and there are a lot of different cards. Even if you do decide to replay a category card, the letter will be different!
The one thing that isn't absolutely great about Scattergories is the included timer- it has a horribly loud ticking noise that makes it difficult to think. I recommend using your own egg timer or stopwatch to time the three minutes- my grandma even sets her kitchen timer.

If you've never played this game, it's great. Two minor problems keep it from being amazing.
Firstly, there is a lack of instruction. Only one very scant piece of paper is provided. If you've never played the game, it takes a few moments to realize how it all works. That shouldn't be an issue. Board games should be playable out of the box, especially one this simple.
Secondly, the construction of the competition boards (hinged pieces of cardboard which writing clamps snap into) are a bit hard to link to the plastic clamps. My friend broke two simply trying to assemble the game. Also, clamps grip paper a bit loosely.
These are minor, nitpicky issues. The game itself is marvelous, great for both the party crowd and the intellectual type. If Milton Bradley paid a bit more attention to this game's presentation, it'd be perfect.

I love this game. I've had it for over 15 years but my sister wanted her own for Christmas. We played for hours and laughed until we cried. That's because the answers you come up with are judged by the other players. My family loves to question each others answers and veto certain ones. For example, I had O.J. Simpson as an answer for a HERO using the letter O. It was vetoed. :)
