Stratego-Milton Bradley Board Games
Rating: -
If you love strategy games this is the best thing after chess. And this game, unlike chess, is easy to learn (Altough it will take time to master). This is one of the best two player games you can find. Once you start you will not want to put this game away. All you have to do is setup your army in a way that you can protect your flag while trying to capture your oponent's. Higher ranking soldiers capture weaker ones. It's that simple. Once you master this game you will want to try the four player Stratego. And if you really like a challenge you must get the Fantasy Stratego. There is also the Star Wars version... Well I will not bore anymore. Just buy this game, you will not be sorry.

This game is basically the same with the numbers in reverse. It is not a bad revision to the game, but the worst thing about this is that you have stickers to put on all the game pieces. And the pieces look really really breakable. In fact, when I received the game, I found two pieces already broke. Not a good thing when first opening the box. But the game in itself is great. I love the concept and the strategy but if you can find the old version, definitely buy it instead of this one. It also says something about Milton Bradley ... starting to take the cheap way into producing or re-producing games for the population. Be careful.

Stratego is a great game, but I have to agree with other reviewers that in the latest "redesign" of the game, Milton Bradley has messed it up. The ranks of the pieces are now illogical and the quality is poor with little stickers on the playing pieces. I don't understand why Milton Bradley would tamper with a great classic game like this. Look for the older version, but if you can't find it, I would still recommend this version, because the basic game play is the same and is still fun.

If you remember Stratego from your youth, try to find it in Milton Bradley's "Nostalgia Game Series" which comes in a special wooden designer box. The Nostalgia Games Series almost perfect copies "Stratego" the original game from the '60s and '70s and even includes the rules in their original wording. However, the edition seen here is a cheap rip-off that is a far cry from the classic game. Here you have to individually stick-on pictures of the soldiers on the game pieces! In the classic version the profiles of the soldiers were etched in silver on the blue and red pieces (remember?), so no "assembly" was required! The pieces in this version are also ranked differently (and illogically) from those in the classic game.

Bought this for my 12 year old who loves strategy games. We have played this several times.
I really forgot how fun this was to play.
