I can't believe that this monkey is selling for almost $50 on Amazon when I bought this at Kmart about six months ago for $30. It's name in our house is actually "The $30 Bear," though, yes, it is a monkey. It runs out of batteries quickly and runs through rechargable batteries even quicker but, in my opinion, it makes bedtime a little easier.

I bought 2 "super monkey" based on the good reviews for children being afraid of the dark. Within one day, the first one stopped working and within 5 days, the other one was also not working. I have received a replacement for both of them, but so far, I am not happy with the product. Both my boys love their Super Monkey, but mom and dad are not happy.

I purchased this monkey for my son when he started waking up at night and was afraid of the dark. He was very excited - but then it stopped working - the wires came loose so it would no longer light up. I ordered a new one and the same thing happened. I now have to order yet a third because my son is so attached to it and is upset that it no longer "flashes".

My 4-yr.old son loves his "Power Monkey" (had it for about 5 ms.). He is afraid in the dark and I told him that monsters are afraid of the Power Monkey's lights. Even though he says that the monkey is not real, it still makes him feel stronger and he makes sure that it is switched on once he is in bed at night. I am giving this to my 18 mo old granddaughter who we're taking on a Hawaiian cruise in March. I thought it might be fun for her to have a new toy. It is not intended for children this small but seems well made and will be given to her with her parents or me present so should pose no problem. It is quite cute and I think the "glow" feature makes it unique.
